Dear Central Family:
I hope your week is going well, and that you feel God’s presence in your lives on this day. I just wanted to remind you of some important things coming up, ways you can support ministries and events taking place at Central.
This coming Sunday after church, the mission team will be hosting a grill out for the church, complete with hamburgers, hot dogs, cole slaw, baked beans and dessert. They are needing your prayers for them as they approach their mission trip to Homestead in July, and they also need your financial support. At this point, they still have $2500 to raise toward what is needed to cover their costs. Many of you have been so generous this spring, helping to raise funds for the youth and children’s summer camp, and we are grateful for your generosity.
This trip to Homestead is a great chance for us to continue living into the inter-generational vision God has given us as a church. Missionaries from youth up to senior adults travel to Homestead to provide Vacation Bible School, friendship, and blessings to severely under-privileged children. And as they return, they bring back their experience and enthusiasm for ministry. Former participants help serve the homeless, help with our Christmas Angel trees, and help to minister to our youth and children’s programs, among other things. It is worthy of your support, I promise. So be there on Sunday, and be generous in your donations.
Also, the Performing Arts Camp is coming up, and registration for that is now in the foyer. A reminder that this camp costs $50 (scholarships are available). Please think of those in your family, and those in your neighborhood, that might enjoy this short camp, which begins on Sunday, July 24 and ends the following Thursday. This year, the play they will be putting on is a rockin’ romp of the life of Joseph, called, “Not Your Average Joe.”
Finally, many of you remember the chance people had a couple of years ago to write on index cards a short sentence or thought about their mother, which we published on Mother’s Day. We will be doing the same thing this year for Father’s Day. You are encouraged to find an index card which will be available this Sunday and next, and write your thoughts about what your father has meant to you.
I hope that you have a great rest of the week, and I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday morning for church.
Blessings,
Sonny
