Shine!, the praise arts activity for school age children at Central began anew with a fresh emphasis on a Bible verse that is dear to our roots: Micah 6:8, “What does the Lord require of you but to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.”
This year, kids will each be given a ball cap for collecting “badges” showing their accomplishments. These badges will be awarded for such things as Bible memory, art projects, music participation, cooking projects and acts of humility and kindness.
The current “mercy” project is participation in the churchwide mission project, Shoes for Orphan Souls. Kids are each filling tennis ball banks to gather monies for a shopping trip to purchase shoes for boys and girls around the world served by Buckner International, a mission partner of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, that provides and distributes shoes to needy children; many of the children who are served would be unable to attend school without these shoe gifts; for others this will be the first time they have received a NEW pair of shoes!
The shopping trip to purchase shoes is scheduled for Wednesday evening, September 3. Kids and their leaders will leave the church at 6 p.m. Please call the church office to reserve a seat on the bus for your child and to complete the necessary permission forms.
