We believe you are interested in helping ensure that Central’s children and teens have a continuing summer camping experience. The children’s team has met and established dates for various summer events and activities. In addition, we are also interested in providing the same for our teens even though we do not currently have a youth director on staff.
For Summer Spend-the-Night Camping we have chosen:
Camp KidJam for children who will have completed grades 2 through 5. It will be held in Lakeland, Florida, June 10-13 on the campus of Southeastern University.
Passport Mission Camp has been selected for kids who have completed grades 6 through 12. It will be held in Jacksonville, Florida, June 28-July 3 on the campus of Jacksonville University.
The out-of-pocket costs will be more than we are accustomed to paying for our local camp but it is inline with the cost of spend-the-night camps everywhere. It will include all meals, air-conditioned housing in dormitories, professional programming, professional contemporary music, recreation, Bible learning and an all-round exciting and faith-focused experience for our children and teens. We will also arrange for group transportation.
I, along with volunteers from Central, have personally taken kids to camps of this type in the past and I’m confident that everyone will be pleased, and even excited, at the opportunity we have to provide a way for our kids to participate.
Please come to a short meeting THIS Sunday, 3/8, in room 4 immediately following worship to determine who wants to go, and to begin to generate ideas for fund-raising to help defray the expenses for our families. We MUST reserve our rooms right away! WE CANNOT DEFER THESE DECISIONS any longer because all fees must be pre-paid prior to the opening of camp.
Playground supervision will be available, if you would like to allow your younger kids to wait there during our meeting.
