Dear Central Family,

I want to keep you up to date with what is going on at church and remind you of opportunities that are available. This last week, by Friday, we were aware of 2 people that were positive with Covid, likely contracted while they were working on putting things back together from the Performing arts camp. We do not believe that any children from PAC were exposed, as no one has reported an illness. However, since that exposure, we are now aware of 5 cases. None of these has been particularly sick, and they are all adults. But to be safe, we cancelled in-person worship last Sunday.

Where we are as of today is that all of the worship leaders (including me) have been vaccinated and are symptom free. Both Gwen and I were in a room with Steve for staff last Wednesday before he was symptomatic, but we have both tested negative in the last couple of days. Because of those negative tests; because those who are positive are quarantining until Monday at least, and because there are no new cases in the church community this week, we are planning to have in-person worship this Sunday, but please stay tuned to our emails for further updates.

For the time being, we will continue with our mask requirement and will also ask that people social distance again. The sanctuary and office area will be fogged on Friday or Saturday to ensure that we are taking every precaution available. Also, we will not do communion or offering on Sunday. Offering plates will be located at the back of the sanctuary for those who wish to tithe in person. Please be prudent with your own health concerns as you decide whether to attend worship or not.

This month, I am preaching on the topic of how Central moves into its future. I hope that if you are not able to be in worship, that you will make sure to watch worship at centralbc.org, and tap the “view worship” button.

At this time, because of the Delta variant’s virility, we will not be having Sunday School until we are sure that we are safe to do so again. Classes may choose to meet outdoors or away from the campus for the time being if they choose to do so. We hope that this is a bump in the road, and we can soon be back on a path to fully opening again, but we hope that you understand our caution, and will remain patient.

For those who are interested, we are still having Wednesday night zoom Bible Study classes, Tuesday morning classes, and Sunday School. If you are feeling isolated from the church, we encourage you to connect with folks that way. I am happy to work with anyone who would like to learn how to zoom.

Please keep the church in prayer during this time. We miss all of you, and want to see you all in person again when it is safe.

Blessings,

Sonny
