Call for Volunteers July 23 – 28
The sanctuary of 1st Baptist Church Mt. Holly, NC (Charlotte suburb) sustained a major fire last summer, 3 weeks after their mission trip to our church, and we get to help them, in return, with some projects around their church. They will be working alongside of us, so we will enjoy making new friendships as well. The photos below show the damage to the sanctuary and a photo BEFORE the fire.
What: We will be working for 3 days, Monday through Wednesday, and Thursday will be a fun/adventure day.
We will have four work teams:
- A yard crew,
- a painting crew,
- a hammer-and-nail crew, and
- a visitation/nursing home crew.
Projects:
- Build a prayer garden in the area shown in the photos
2. Build steps up the slope to the prayer garden area.
3. Paint rooms in the church building still standing. (one is pictured below)
Deadline to sign up: May 1st
Who is invited: Anyone finished with 3rd grade (8th grade and under requires a parent/guardian on the trip) and above.
When: July 23rd (Leave at 11am) thru July 28th (Leave at 8am)
Where: We will be staying @ the newly renovated Quality Inn & Suites in Charlotte, NC (7.5 miles away from the church, free breakfast, & pool) and working at 1st Baptist Church Mt. Holly.
How much: Maximum cost is $150 (meals and transportation included), but we are working on fundraisers and scholarships to bring cost down and provide a way for everyone to go.
